Weight Release Seminar- January 6, 2003

These are some notes about the part therapy. There is a script for parts use at the bottom, that you can adapt to your personal needs. Remember that the behavior you are looking at, even though it is negative, has a positive intention.  Parts work allows you to find the positive intention and make an agreement with the part to find a way to get what it wants (the postive thing) without the negative behavior.

Imagine what it might be like if you could wake up tomorrow KNOWING that you are in control of your weight   In control around food If you loved to excercises, actually craved it.

What if you suddenly began to love eating nutritious foods… and easily passed up the sweets or fats.

What kind of person would you be, if all that was possible.

Close your eyes for a moment. Imagine this person that you may become. The person that knows that you are in control of your weight and eating healthy… for life.

Create an image of yourself, almost as if it is on a TV screen, or perhaps in a picture frame. Notice the look on your face, the shape of your body, the energy, the look in your eyes, the freedom you have to live life the way you want, without the daily anxiety about your weight.

Now get real close to this picture of you. Notice what it means ABOUT you to be in this healthy body.

Take a moment now to really make this image real.

And find out NOW, what it means about you to be this kind of person.

Take your time, and just listen to your inner mind. Find out what your core belief would be if you were in this body, living this life.

Now I want you to type in what the statement is that comes to mind. It might begin with “I am a woman who… or I am a man who…”

When you have this statement of belief,  type it in.

Now create an image of yourself as you are now, struggling with your weight issues, feeling a lack of discipline or self control. Create this image in your mind with all the feelings that go with it, on a separate screen or frame. Put this one over to your left. Notice the look on your face, the shape of your body, the feelings you have about this…

And find out what it means about you to do life this way.

When you are ready, type in the statement- what it means about you.

So, what is really stopping you from having what you want?

If it would feel so good to be that healthy, to have the freedom to think about something besides food, besides your body… why isn’t it happening right now?

And we are going to find out.

Self sabotage- parts thereapy

Today we will find out why you are sabotaging your efforts.

Self Sabotage- This is why diets don’t work. There is an underlying positive intention that will not let you succeed at losing weight because there is something much more important that your inner mind knows, something much more powerful that your subconscious must do. Right now the only way your inner mind knows how to satisfy this need (that the part has) is to eat more food, or gain weight.

We are going to look at this as a part of you.

As we get more in depth about our parts, you will find that you understand the needs of your parts. This is not something that you are aware of on a conscious level. If you were, it wouldn’t have the power that it does.

(examples of people who had parts issues, postive reasons for being overwiegh or not exercising ...Client who wanted to be bigger for power  Client who wanted to feel loved. Where did she learn this? Baking cakes for family. Woman who would eat whatever she wanted- Part says, I will do whatever I want-from childhood her aunt threatened to cut off hand when she reached for the cake

Parts therapy-

find part, identify it, accept it.
Ask it “WHAT DO YOU REA:LLY WANT?”

PARTS THERAPY SCRIPT

This is from the SCRIPT book for headaches, and parts, but you can adapt it to your weight issue with your clients or for yourself.
On the Weight Release CD set, there is a parts therapy process specifically for weight.

Parts Therapy

Be aware of the sensations around your head, and notice the way it feels right now…

Inside, outside, around your neck….

Now take a journey inside of your head, as if you could actually go inside of your head and see the area where the discomfort is. Notice the shape of the area, the color, the texture…

Notice if there is an energy or movement…

Now begin to notice that area as a part of you, a part of you that needs something, that has created this discomfort.

That part might take on a look or feel of something familiar, or something you have never seen before, it may seem to be all inside of your head, or floating outside of your head.

This part has a purpose.

And even though you don’t like the headaches it is creating, it creates them for a reason. Underneath the pain, this part is trying to help you, to get what it needs.

Now, begin to see this part as having a positive intention. In a moment you will be able to ask this part what it wants and find out what it needs. So let this part know that you are not going to judge it or analyze it… that you will let the part be completely honest with you.

In a moment you are going to ask the part what it wants, what it really wants underneath the headache.

So now, silently ask the part “what do you really want” and then just wait for the answer. When it answers, let me know what it says.

(now pause and wait for the client to tell you what the part says)

(if there seems to be no answer, suggest the following)

This part may tell you, or show in an image or may let you know what it wants as an inner voice that you can hear. When it answers, let me know what it says.

(Sometimes the client still may not understand that they are supposed to tell you, so repeat the suggestion that “when it answers, let me know”.)

(When they answer, ask them to thank the part for that answer)

Now ask the part again, even deeper, what else it wants. When it answers, let me know.

Good, now thank the part for that answer.

And now, give the part permission to really let you know what it wants on the deepest level. Ask it one more time why it needs to create this headache, what its real intention or need is.

Good, now thank the part for that answer.

Now you understand that this part needs, (or is trying to get) _________. And you understand that the only way it knows how to get this is to have the headache.

You can help this part get what it needs without having a headache.  Ask the part what it would want you to do, what the most important thing is, to completely release the headache. Even if it does not seem like something that you could do, let the part tell you what it would want, if it would promise to release the headaches.

Let me know what it says.

Ask the part, now, if there is anything else it would need, if it could have anything it wants, to release its need for the headache.

Good, now thank the part for that information.

Now ask that part, if you were to do what it asked, or give it what it needs, would it make an agreement to completely release the headache?

(if the part says no, ask it what else it might want to make this agreement)

Bring that part back to its place in you, and surround it with love and understanding. Realize that the part needs your help to accomplish this.  Understand that this part of you has been creating these headaches to help you, and now that you understand what it needs, you can create harmony with that part.

(At this point you can bring the client out of trance and talk about the agreements, or you can continue with the healing disk)
